Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in England during the early 18th century, the Windsor chair became a staple of rural and domestic seating design. The style is defined by a solid wooden seat into which both the chair legs and back spindles are directly jointed.

Traditional British Windsor chairs were typically built using a combination of native hardwoods, utilizing elm for the carved seat due to its strength, alongside ash, yew, or beech for the steam-bent back bows and turned legs.

Authentic antique examples often feature hand-carved saddle seats made from a single timber board, wedged tenon joinery visible where the legs penetrate the seat, and subtle wear patterns along the armrests and lower stretchers.

A Windsor armchair works well as a accent piece in a minimalist reading corner, paired with a contemporary writing desk, or integrated as a carver chair at the head of a modern dining table.

Maintain the timber finish by applying a natural beeswax polish periodically along the wood grain. Position the piece away from direct heat sources and extreme humidity fluctuations to prevent shrinking or split joints.
