Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian silver refers to tableware produced in Great Britain during the reigns of King George I through King George IV, spanning 1714 to 1830. Pieces from this era are characterized by proportional balance, hand-hammered construction, and hallmarks indicating the maker, city, silver standard, and year of production.

Georgian ladles were primarily constructed from sterling silver, an alloy containing 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper for added structural strength. The individual components were raised and shaped by silversmiths using traditional hand tools.

Authentic pieces carry a full set of British hallmarks stamped into the metal, which typically include the leopards head or anchor for the assay office, the lion passant for sterling quality, a date letter, a makers mark, and a sovereigns head duty mark.

Antique silver ladles serve functional roles on modern dining tables for serving sauces, dressings, or gravies during formal meals, or they can be displayed decorative in a sideboard drawer insert or glass cabinet.

Silver should be cleaned with a specialized, non-abrasive silver polish and soft cotton cloth to remove tarnish while preserving the natural patina. Frequent washing in warm soapy water and thorough hand drying helps prevent severe oxidisation.
