Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the mid-20th century, silversmiths departed from ornate Victorian motifs in favour of clean lines, ergonomic forms, and subtle stylized decoration. American makers like Reed & Barton produced functional serving pieces that reflected Scandinavian modernism and contemporary post-war aesthetics.

These utensils were crafted using 92.5 percent pure silver alloyed with copper for durability. Techniques involved die-stamping or casting the bowl and handle, followed by hand-finishing, engraving, and applying oxidisation to accentuate relief patterns.

Authentic pieces are stamped on the reverse with clear manufacturer hallmarks, including the words Sterling and the Reed & Barton name or emblem. Period items also exhibit precise weight specifications and specific pattern numbers or symbols.

Small silver serving items can be displayed alongside contemporary glassware on a dining sideboard, arranged on a brass bar cart, or used as functional serving utensils during formal dinner gatherings.

Tarnish should be removed gently using a specialized silver cream and a soft microfibre cloth. Washing by hand in warm soapy water is recommended, while avoiding abrasive scrubbers or dishwasher cleaning cycles.
