A sea coast stick barometer is a specialized nineteenth-century meteorological instrument designed with specific calibration scales to predict coastal weather patterns and storms based on atmospheric pressure changes.

Victorian stick barometers were typically crafted using dense hardwoods such as oak or mahogany for the outer casing, paired with a vertical glass mercury tube, brass setting indicators, and printed ceramic or ivory scale plates.

Authentic period examples feature hand-carved woodwork, glass tubes containing elemental mercury, original brass verniers, and period-specific typography on the weather scale plates.

Mount the slender vertical frame on a narrow accent wall, within a hallway gallery, or adjacent to a doorway to add historical interest and architectural line to contemporary spaces.

Keep the barometer mounted strictly vertical in a temperature-stable environment away from direct heat sources, and clean the glass and carved timber using a dry microfibre cloth without harsh chemicals.
