Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the seventeenth century, a bracket clock is a compact table timepiece traditionally powered by a spring mechanism rather than hanging weights. Designed to sit on a wall bracket or mantelpiece, these clocks frequently feature decorative wooden cases and chiming mechanisms.

Victorian bracket clocks commonly feature cases carved from solid oak, mahogany, or walnut, housing brass clockwork movements. Dials often combine silvered brass chapter rings with cast brass spandrel ornaments, protected by clear glass panels.

Authentic bracket clocks from the late nineteenth century usually bear maker stamps directly on the rear brass movement plate. They display high-grade hand or machine carving, cast brass dial spandrels, heavy brass movements, and functional chime control sub-dials.

Position the clock centrally on a fireplace mantelpiece, sideboard, or study bookshelf to serve as an architectural focal point. Balance the dark wood aesthetic by pairing it with neutral walls, minimalist ceramics, or monochrome artwork.

Keep the wooden case away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber shrinkage, dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying beeswax annually. The mechanical clock movement requires professional servicing and lubrication every five to seven years.
