Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced predominantly during the 1920s and 1930s in France, Lalique opalescent glass utilised precise chemical formulations involving bone ash or fluorine compounds to create dynamic light-diffusing effects that shift between milky blue and warm orange under varying lighting conditions.

The technique involved pressing or blowing molten glass into metal moulds, followed by controlled reheating and cooling to induce localized crystallization, which created raised tactile motifs alongside the characteristic iridescent opalescence.

Authentic early 20th-century Lalique pieces feature cast, moulded, or wheel-engraved signatures, crisp detail in the relief work, hand-finished rims, and a characteristic weight and light refraction distinct from later reproductions.

Position the vessel near natural light sources, such as a deep window sill or illuminated shelving unit, to highlight the optical shifts within the opalescent material against dark timber or neutral backdrops.

Clean gently using lukewarm water and mild dish soap with a soft microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners, extreme thermal shocks, or immersion in automated dishwashers.
