Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco opalescent glass emerged prominently during the 1920s and 1930s, characterised by semi-translucent glass that shifts between milky blue and warm translucent tones under varying light conditions. French glassmakers utilised specialized moulding techniques to form stylized, sculptural designs.

Opalescent glass is crafted by incorporating heat-reactive compounds, such as bone ash or fluorine, into the molten glass mixture. Controlled cooling and reheating cause these compounds to crystallise, resulting in light-diffusing optical qualities.

Authentic pieces generally display moulded or wheel-engraved signatures, such as R. LALIQUE, located near the base. Genuine examples also feature refined hand-finishing, balanced weight distribution, and precise relief details characteristic of early twentieth-century manufacturing.

Position the vase near natural light sources or directional lighting to emphasize its light-refracting properties. Placing the object on a dark timber console or polished stone surface provides sharp visual contrast to highlight the frosted detail.

Clean the glass using lukewarm water and mild, non-abrasive detergent, drying immediately with a soft microfibre cloth. Avoid dishwashers, harsh chemicals, and sudden temperature shifts to prevent thermal shock and surface damage.
