Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco opalescent glass from the 1920s features sculptural relief patterns, often inspired by nature, produced using press-moulding techniques pioneered in France. These pieces utilise glass formulations containing bone ash or chemical compounds to create a characteristic milky, light-refracting luminescence.

Molten glass was forced into multi-part metal moulds under pressure to form raised exterior motifs such as foliage and berries. Once cooled, the glass was chemically treated or re-heated to produce varying degrees of opacity and opalescence across the relief details.

Period pieces typically feature crisp relief detail and accurate moulded or wheel-engraved signatures, such as R. LALIQUE or R. LALIQUE FRANCE. Genuine examples display smooth pontil marks or polished bases without modern laser etching or uneven weight distribution.

Position the vessel where natural light or focused spotlighting can pass through the semi-translucent glass to highlight the opalescent finish. Displaying it on a dark mantelpiece or timber sideboard creates visual contrast against the blue hues.

Wash the glass gently by hand using lukewarm water and a mild non-abrasive detergent, avoiding harsh chemicals or abrasive sponges. Dry immediately with a soft lint-free microfibre cloth to prevent water spots and keep it away from extreme temperature changes.
