Description

A superb Regency period inlaid flame mahogany sideboard of substantial proportions. Possibly Scottish. Of excellent construction in solid mahogany with attractive flame mahogany veneers. Decorated with ebony line inlay throughout. The super-structure with slide opening compartments. The main body of the sideboard with end cupboards and drawers (one containing a cellarette) flanking two central drawers. The top central drawer and the right hand cupboard are lockable (key supplied). All standing on strong turned legs. Sympathetically refinished to a very high standard and now offered for sale in excellent condition with a wonderful colour and patina.

Regency sideboards were produced in Britain between approximately 1811 and 1830. They are defined by classical proportions, geometric forms, rich wood veneers such as flame mahogany, and decorative details like reeded legs, brass mounts, and ebony or boxwood stringing.
