Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian sideboards are defined by classical symmetry, clean geometric forms, and high-grade native or imported hardwoods. Typically mounted on slender turned or tapered legs, they feature central drawers flanked by deep cellarette drawers or cupboards.

Primary timber construction utilised solid mahogany and Cuban mahogany veneers, often accented with oak or pine drawer linings. Decorative elements frequently included brass handles, bone keyhole escutcheons, and satinwood or rosewood crossbanding.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut dovetail joints, original oak or pine secondary woods, and irregular wear patterns consistent with age. Look for hand-planed drawer bottoms, historical brassware lock mechanisms, and naturally aged timber patination.

A Georgian sideboard functions as a grounding architectural element in contemporary dining rooms, hallways, or reception spaces. Juxtaposing rich mahogany against neutral backdrop tones or modern artwork highlights the historic timber grain.

Maintain mahogany by dusting regularly with a soft lint-free cloth and applying beeswax polish once or twice per year. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent timber shrinkage, veneer lifting, and colour fading.
