Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency sideboards, dating from the early nineteenth century, are defined by classical architectural symmetry, clean geometric proportions, and rich wood veneers such as flame mahogany. They frequently feature breakfront arrangements, pedestal cupboards, reeded accents, and concealed storage designed for dining room service.

Primary woods were predominantly high-grade West Indian mahogany and flame mahogany veneers. Secondary woods used for drawer linings and internal framing typically included pine, oak, or cedar, alongside brass or turned wood drawer pulls and iron lock mechanisms.

Authentic Regency pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, original brass or steel locks, and secondary timber linings showing natural age oxidation. Flame mahogany veneers were applied by hand using animal glue, resulting in subtle surface variations distinct from machine-made reproductions.

A substantial mahogany sideboard works well as a focal point in contemporary dining spaces or expansive entrance halls. Styling the top surface with modern artwork, abstract ceramics, or contemporary table lamps creates a balanced contrast between historic craftsmanship and modern aesthetic choices.

Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and prolonged sunlight to prevent timber shrinkage and veneer bleaching. Dust regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the timber patina.
