Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Silver tea caddies were designed to securely store dry tea leaves, protecting them from air, light, and humidity. During the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, tea was an expensive commodity, making locked or tightly sealed metal and wooden caddies essential household items.

Victorian silver tea caddies were raised from sheet sterling silver or cast in sections, often decorated with chasing, embossing, or repousse techniques. Slip-on or hinged caps were fitted precisely to create a tight seal to preserve freshness.

Authentic British late Victorian sterling silver features a standardized set of hallmarks, including the lion passant mark for silver purity, an assay office symbol (such as a crown for Sheffield), a date letter, and a makers mark.

An antique silver tea caddy functions well on a sideboard, drinks tray, or shelving unit, either as a standalone accent piece or grouped alongside other antique silverware and glassware.

Preserve sterling silver by polishing gently with a soft, non-abrasive cloth and a specialist silver polish, avoiding harsh chemicals. Store in a dry environment or anti-tarnish cloth to slow oxidisation over time.
