Webberley Antiques has dated this 17th Century Oak Coffer to the 17th Century.
These are all early motifs, typically seen in Elizabethan and early 17th century furniture.
Each of these is carved with central daisy form roundel with ribboned border.

Original boards throughout and retaining the original iron split pin hinges.
Peg jointed throughout and dating from 1630-1650 with a few small, old and well blended restorations.
Fantastic heavy and capacious chest in excellent robust and usable condition, the boarded lid with an old split/crack which is completely stable and not going anywhere

A good early oak coffer of superior colour and with rich natural patination from four hundred years of use, wax and care.
Dimensions are:
59 inches wide, 27.75 inches high and 24.5 inches deep.
