Oak Coffer 17th Century

Description

A useful small coffer with a lovely patina. It is narrow from back to front which is a desirable feature. The deep carving is unusual. It is a 6 plank coffer with strap hinges and metal plate on the front.

The inside was lined in newspaper. Some remains on the inside of the lid. It can be removed (washed off) if desired but it makes quite interesting reading (see photos).
