Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian silver flatware produced during the mid-18th century is notable for its refined balance, hand-forged sterling silver construction, and minimalist structural lines. Pieces from this period frequently feature upturned or downturned terminals, delicate drop joints at the bowl base, and understated crest or monogram engravings.

Georgian tablespoons were forged from standard British sterling silver, consisting of 92.5 percent pure silver alloyed with 7.5 percent copper for strength. The flatware was shaped using manual smithing techniques, resulting in smooth finishes and dense metal construction.

Authenticity is determined by examining the British assay hallmarks stamped onto the stem back. A complete mark includes the makers initials, the lion passant indicating sterling purity, the leopards head for the London assay office, and a specific date letter corresponding to the exact year of manufacture.

Antique silver flatware can be styled on dining table settings, displayed within glass-front cabinetry, or arranged in shallow velvet-lined trays on a sideboard top. The reflective metallic finish complements both contemporary place settings and traditional timber furniture.

Clean silver using a gentle, non-abrasive silver foam or polish applied with a soft cotton cloth, followed by thorough drying with a microfibre towel. Avoid machine washing and store pieces in anti-tarnish cloth bags to minimise oxidisation and surface scratching.
