For Sale by Beeches Vintage
Description

Here we have a very pretty Antique Sterling Silver Dessert Spoon from the late 1700s. It would be ideal for using to serve or eat food with. It comes in a gift bag and would be a very special present.

It was made by William Sumner I and it was hallmarked in London in 1792. The hallmarks are on the back on the handle..

The spoon has a beautiful tapered handle and a lovely shaped bowl. At the top of the handle it has a very pretty etched design featuring a crown and a unicorn.

The Silver is shiny with light scratches and a a number of very small faint tarnish dots in the bowl. There’s a very tiny indentation in the bowl which can only be felt with a finger.

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian sterling silver flatware refers to silver dining utensils produced in Great Britain between 1714 and 1830. These items feature balanced proportions and specific hallmark sequences denoting silver purity and manufacture origin.

18th-century spoons were hand-forged from solid sterling silver, an alloy containing 92.5 percent pure silver and 7.5 percent copper to provide structural hardness.

Authentic Georgian silver flatware displays hand-stamped hallmarks, typically including the lion passant mark for sterling purity, a makers mark, a town mark, a date letter, and a monarch duty mark.

Antique silver cutlery can be arranged on dining tables alongside modern porcelain to create visual contrast, or displayed inside glass cabinets as collectible silverware.

Sterling silver flatware should be hand-washed using warm water and mild soap, dried thoroughly with a soft cloth, and gently polished to remove tarnish and oxidisation.
