Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Early Georgian oak furniture, dating from the early 18th century, reflects a transition from heavier late seventeenth-century styles to lighter proportions. Design elements typically include geometric drawer mouldings, turned feet, fielded panels, and decorative brass swing handles with backplates.

Pieces from this period were primarily constructed from solid English oak or walnut. Internal drawer linings were often crafted from pine or oak, while secondary components utilized hand-carved dovetail joints and cast brass hardware.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-sawn timber marks, hand-cut dovetail joinery with irregular spacing, and natural wear to drawer runners. Original brassware will show subtle variations and patination consistent with age.

An early Georgian chest functions well as a focal point in an entryway, bedroom, or living room. Contrast the dark, patinated oak against contemporary neutral paint colours and style the top with ceramics, modern lighting, or minimal glassware.

Maintain antique oak by dusting regularly with a soft, dry cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent timber shrinkage and finish cracking.
