Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

An okimono is a traditional Japanese freestanding figurine or sculpture typically displayed in an alcove or on a shelf, originating predominantly from the Meiji period.

Meiji period bronzes were typically created using the lost-wax casting method, often featuring intricate hand-chased details and chemical patina treatments.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit characteristic weight, natural oxidisation patterns, precise hand-finishing, and sometimes artist signatures or foundry marks on the base.

Placing an antique bronze on a neutral wooden surface or mantelpiece allows the rich metallic patina and sculptural form to function as a focal point.

Antique bronze should be dusted gently with a soft, dry cloth and kept away from direct moisture and chemical cleaners to protect the historic surface patina.
