Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An Edwardian hip flask dates from the early 20th century, specifically between 1901 and 1910. Flasks from this era often feature silver mountings, bayonet or captive tops, glass bodies encased in leather, and removable silver drinking cups at the base.

These pieces were constructed using sterling silver or silver plate for the caps, collars, and base cups. The core container was typically hand-blown glass, partially wrapped in pigskin, crocodile leather, or morocco leather to improve grip and protect the glass.

Authentic items feature official British silver hallmarks stamped on both the collar and the detachable cup, including the maker mark, date letter, town mark, and lion passant. Mechanical details such as a bayonet twist-and-lock cap mechanism are also characteristic of the period.

A hip flask can be displayed as a decorative accent on a wooden tray atop a sideboard, arranged within a home bar set-up, or placed on a library shelf alongside antique books and glassware.

Clean the silver elements using a soft microfibre cloth and specialized silver polish, avoiding contact with the leather. Preserve the leather by applying a small amount of neutral leather conditioner, and clean internal glass components using warm water without submerging the exterior.
