Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Sterling silver hip flasks were carried by military officers during the late 19th and early 20th centuries as personal spirit containers. Often presented as gifts or purchased privately, these items were frequently engraved with regimental crests, military coats of arms, or personal initials.

Victorian military flasks were predominantly crafted from solid sterling silver or silver plate, sometimes fitted with leather coverings, bayonet-locking caps, or removable base cups designed for drinking.

Authentic British sterling silver features a standardized set of stamped marks: a makers mark, the lion passant indicating silver purity, a town mark (such as a leopards head for London), and a date letter signifying the specific year of assay.

An antique silver hip flask can be displayed as a decorative accent on an office desk, styled within a glass cabinet alongside historical memorabilia, or positioned on a wooden tray within a drinks cabinet or gentlemans library setting.

Sterling silver should be polished gently using a soft, non-abrasive microfiber cloth and a specialist silver polish to remove tarnish. Avoid submerging internal cork linings in water, and store the item in a dry environment to prevent rapid oxidisation.
