Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian Louis XV Revival furniture is defined by its adoption of 18th-century French Rococo elements, including sinuous cabriole legs, serpentine outlines, intricate floral marquetry, and rich gilt bronze mounts placed on high-grade woods such as walnut and rosewood.

Cabinetmakers during the 19th century frequently utilised dense hardwoods like walnut, mahogany, and rosewood, often applying figurative veneers such as burr walnut. Ormolu, or gilded bronze, was cast and applied to edges, legs, and aprons for decorative accentuation.

Authentic 19th-century gilt bronze mounts typically exhibit hand-chased surface details, moderate surface patina or oxidisation in unpolished crevices, and are secured to the wooden frame with original hand-cut screws or threaded bolts rather than modern cast rivets.

A Victorian walnut occasional table serves as a functional accent piece when placed beside modern upholstered seating or situated in an alcove. Its warm wood tones and metallic detail contrast effectively against contemporary neutral walls and clean-lined architecture.

Maintain walnut surfaces by applying microcrystalline wax with a soft cloth and avoiding direct sunlight or radiator heat sources. Gilt bronze mounts should be dusted gently with a soft brush, keeping harsh chemical cleaners or brass polishes away from the wood finish.
