Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian pie crust tilt-top table features a circular tabletop with a scalloped, raised edge resembling a pie crust, supported by a central turned column and three cabriole legs. The top incorporates a latch mechanism that allows it to tilt vertically when stored against a wall.

These tables were typically crafted from solid dense woods such as walnut or mahogany. Construction involved hand-carved rims, turned central balusters, dovetail joints on the leg attachments, and brass tilt catches or catch blocks beneath the top.

Authentic pieces feature signs of hand-planing on the underside, asymmetrical wear on the feet, original brass block mechanisms, and natural shrinkage across the grain of the solid timber top rather than uniform machine-milled plywood or veneer construction.

A tilt-top table works as an occasional side table beside armchairs, in a bay window, or as a plant stand. When not in active use, the top can be tilted upright to display the grain and carved rim against a wall.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish periodically following the wood grain. Keep the table away from direct sunlight, radiators, or moist environments to prevent warping or splitting of the timber.
