Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A needlework sampler is an embroidered textile panel produced as a demonstration or study of needlework technique, often featuring alphabets, religious verses, floral motifs, and decorative borders crafted by young women during the 18th and 19th centuries.

Samplers were traditionally worked on linen, wool, or canvas ground fabrics using silk, wool, or cotton threads, executed primarily in cross stitch, tent stitch, or satin stitch before being mounted and framed.

Authentic 19th-century samplers typically display hand-stitched construction, slight thread tension variation, natural toning or discolouration of the base cloth, and stitched signatures often incorporating names, dates, or locations.

Framed needlework samplers can be incorporated into gallery walls alongside architectural drawings or hung individually above sideboards and desks to add historical texture and pattern to modern interior schemes.

To preserve antique samplers, display them away from direct sunlight to reduce fading, maintain low humidity levels to prevent mould growth, and frame them using acid-free mounting boards and UV-protective glass.
