Classical garden urns derived their form from ancient Greco-Roman vessels, notably the campana shape, and gained widespread popularity in European estate gardens during the 18th and 19th centuries. The advent of industrial iron casting in the 19th century allowed intricate classical motifs to be produced for garden ornamentation.
