We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Late Victorian cast iron garden urns gained widespread popularity during the late 19th century due to foundry mass-casting techniques that enabled detailed classical mouldings, such as fluting and egg-and-dart borders, designed for grand estate grounds and public parks.

These planters were created by pouring molten iron into sand moulds, frequently cast in distinct sectionssuch as the rim, fluted bowl, socle, and square plinthwhich were subsequently secured together with internal iron rod fastenings.

Original late 19th-century pieces typically exhibit sharp detail from quality sand-casting, significant weight, visible seam marks from historical foundry moulds, and a layered patina of historical paint finishes or natural surface oxidisation.

In exterior landscapes, a matching pair can flank a doorway or terminate a gravel path vista, whereas in interior spaces or conservatories, they function as grounded decorative features when filled with dried botanicals or structural foliage.

To preserve structural integrity and control surface rust, ensure drainage holes remain clear of debris and consider applying a clear microcrystalline wax or breathable sealant to protect the original patinated surface.
