Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Cast iron garden urns became widely popular during the nineteenth century, inspired by classical Roman and Greek shapes such as the campana urn. Foundries used liquid iron poured into moulds to produce durable, highly detailed decorative pieces for grand estate gardens.

Traditional urns were cast in heavy iron, typically in separate sections consisting of the rim, body, foot, and plinth base. These components were fastened together using internal iron bolts, creating a stable, heavy structure capable of withstanding outdoor weather.

Authentic period pieces feature crisp moulding details, heavy gauge iron construction, and internal bolting mechanisms showing natural age. They often exhibit multiple layers of historic paint finish along with natural surface oxidisation and moss growth in the crevices.

Position a pair on either side of an entrance doorway, garden pathway, or patio terrace to establish symmetry and visual structure. They can be left unplanted as sculptural focal points or filled with trailing foliage like ivy and seasonal blooms.

To preserve natural patina and rust levels, avoid harsh chemical cleaners and simply brush away loose debris with a soft brush. If stabilisation is required, apply a thin coat of clear microcrystalline wax or iron sealant to prevent further moisture penetration.
