Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian imperial extending dining tables feature a telescopic runner system allowing additional leaves to be added for hosting large gatherings. Popularised in the nineteenth century, these tables were crafted by prominent cabinetmakers to accommodate formal dining requirements.

High-grade solid mahogany and mahogany veneers were primarily used due to structural stability and timber density. These tables feature hand-turned or fluted legs, brass castors, and precision steel or wooden winding mechanisms to extend the frame smoothly.

Authentic nineteenth-century examples often bear stamped maker marks along drawer edges, table aprons, or brass fitments. Examining the underside reveals wooden winding screws, brass clips, and hand-finished telescopic runners characteristic of the era.

Place the table as a central anchor in a formal dining space paired with modern upholstered seating to balance classic proportions. Low-hanging overhead lighting highlights the polished surface timber without visually overwhelming the room.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply beeswax polish twice annually along the grain. Keep the table away from direct sunlight and radiator heat sources to prevent timber shrinkage or surface finish deterioration.
