Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A George III chest of drawers dates from the reign of King George III between 1760 and 1820, characterised by neoclassically inspired proportions, graduated drawer layouts, and constructed primarily from solid or veneered mahogany.

Georgian craftsmen used imported Cuban or Honduran mahogany for primary visible surfaces, combined with native oak or pine for secondary internal structures such as drawer sides, bottom boards, and back panels.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints on drawer linings, uneven hand-sawn marks on rear panels, natural shrinkage to side boards, and period brass backplate hardware secured with handmade iron or brass fixings.

A dark mahogany chest functions as a striking accent piece in a contemporary hallway or bedroom, paired with modern abstract wall art above and minimalist ceramic lamps on top to contrast traditional craftsmanship with modern design.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish once or twice annually, ensuring the cabinet remains situated away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent timber movement or surface fading.
