Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Ersari Turkmen carpets originate from the Ersari tribe, one of the major Turkmen sub-groups residing along the Amu Darya river basin in Northern Afghanistan and Turkmenistan. Traditionally hand-woven by nomadic craftspeople, these rugs are noted for their geometric repeating patterns, termed guls, which historically signified tribal identity and heritage.

These carpets are constructed using hand-spun wool for both the warp and weft, as well as the knotted pile. Dyes were traditionally extracted from natural organic materials such as madder root for deep terracottas and red hues, indigo for blues, and plant walnuts for darker shades.

Authentic pieces exhibit prominent octagonal gul design motifs arranged in repeating grid lines, supported by intricate geometric borders. Look for soft variations in dye tone known as abrash, hand-knotted asymmetric weave structures visible on the reverse, and natural wear consistent with wool foundations from the period.

A tribal carpet acts as a grounding anchor in contemporary living spaces, dining rooms, or studies. The warm rust red palette pairs effectively with neutral linen upholstery, dark timber furniture, brushed brass accents, or mid-century modern leather seating.

Vacuum regularly using suction only without a rotating brush bar to protect the wool fibres. Rotate the carpet periodically to ensure balanced exposure to sunlight and foot traffic, use a high-quality rug underlay, and address spills immediately with spot cleaning using warm water and mild detergent.
