Archibald Kenrick Doorstop No. 481 Mr Punch

Description

Scarce Archibald Kenrick cast iron “Mr. Punch” doorstop number 481.

The doorstop depicts Mr. Punch reclining on a stack of books with his dog Toby at his feet.

Fully marked to the reverse with the impressed Kenrick mark and model number 481 which appears in the Kenrick catalogue of 1876 (please see final photograph)

The doorstop came to me covered in layers of paint which have been stripped away, rust removed and cast iron stove black applied to prevent further rust. This finish is closer to the “Berlin Black” he would have originally been and can be maintained with stove polish OR he can be painted for a low maintenance finish.
