Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Welsh dresser is a piece of vernacular furniture originating in Wales during the 17th and 18th centuries, comprising a lower storage base of drawers or cupboards beneath an elevated rack with open shelving designed for displaying crockery.

Eighteenth-century dressers were typically constructed from solid regional hardwoods such as oak, featuring pegged mortise and tenon joints, hand-sawn backboards, and hand-dovetailed drawers often fitted with brass handles or teardrop pulls.

Authentic 18th-century dressers display period-correct signs of age, such as hand-planed timber surfaces, irregular dovetail joints, wooden peg construction, natural timber shrinkage across wide boards, and oxidisation around original hardware.

An antique oak dresser serves as a functional focal point in open-plan kitchens, dining spaces, or hallways, where the open shelves can display modern ceramics, glassware, or art books to contrast historic timber with modern design elements.

Preserve antique oak by dusting regularly with a dry cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, ensuring the piece is kept away from direct heat sources and damp environments to prevent movement in the timber.
