A Georgian mahogany tea stand is a small occasional table manufactured during the Georgian period, specifically designed to hold a tea service or kettle in formal drawing rooms.

These stands were predominantly constructed using dense, figured hardwoods such as mahogany, often featuring turned central pillars and tripod bases crafted from native or imported timber.

Authentic pieces typically display period construction techniques such as hand-cut dovetails, traditional joinery, patination consistent with age, and characteristic turning on the central column.

An antique tea stand can be placed beside a sofa or in an empty corner to serve as a functional accent piece, contrasting modern upholstery with historic craftsmanship.

Antique mahogany should be maintained by dusting with a soft, dry cloth and occasionally treating the surface with traditional beeswax to nourish the wood without damaging the historic finish.
