DESCRIPTIONThis a fine quality early 19th-century Regency period mahogany washstand. This charming table features a rectangular top with a shaped, three-quarter gallery and finely reeded edge above a central shallow drawer flanked by two deep drawers raised on beautifully carved spiral-twist and ring turned legs. A refined and practical table of elegant proportions and rich colour. The central drawer is misshapen (rhomboid, rather than rectangular, in plan view), probably caused by age-related shrinkage of one side more than the other, meaning that it does not quite sit flush.
