Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Maintain yew wood furniture by dusting regularly with a soft cloth and applying a beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the chair away from direct sunlight, radiators, and extreme fluctuations in humidity to prevent wood shrinkage or cracking.

Position a Windsor chair as a standalone accent piece in a reading corner, pair it with a contemporary desk, or set it alongside neutral upholstered seating to introduce warmth and texture. The organic wood grain complements both modern minimalist and traditional country schemes.

Authentic period examples feature hand-shaped seats with visible saddle shaping, wedged tenon joints on the top of the arms or seat, and natural wear patterns on the stretchers. Regional maker marks or stamps are sometimes impressed directly onto the seat edge or underside.

Windsor chairs are frequently crafted from multiple native hardwoods, including yew, elm, ash, and beech. The seat is often carved from a single slab of elm for durability, while steam-bent yew or ash forms the bow back and delicate spindles.

A Windsor chair is a wooden chair constructed with a solid shaped seat into which the chair legs and backrest spindles are secured using round tenons. Originating in England during the early 18th century, these chairs became standard seating across both rural homes and grand estates.
