Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An English fusee dial clock is a wall-mounted timepiece driven by a spring-wound mechanism utilizing a conical pulley known as a fusee. Popular from the eighteenth to early twentieth centuries, these clocks were designed to equalise the torque of the mainspring to maintain consistent timekeeping accuracy.

Edwardian dial clocks typically feature turned mahogany or oak surrounds, cast brass bezels with glass covers, painted iron dials, and heavy brass mechanical movements housed within a rear wooden case.

Authentic pieces feature a hand-painted iron dial rather than printed paper, heavy brass plates in the movement connected by a gut string or steel chain, and a cast brass bezel frame. Maker inscriptions, such as London maker marks, are often located near the centre of the dial face.

Position the clock as a focal piece on a neutral wall in an entryway, hallway, or above a hallway console table. The dark wood tone contrasts effectively against contemporary light paint schemes and minimalist furnishings.

Ensure the clock is mounted securely and level to allow the pendulum to swing freely. Wind the movement regularly using the appropriate clock key, and keep the wooden case out of direct sunlight and away from central heating sources to prevent timber shrinkage.
