An 18th-century walnut chest of drawers is a storage piece constructed during the Queen Anne or Georgian eras, characterized by veneered walnut facades, decorative inlaid banding, and brass hardware.

Cabinetmakers utilized timber framesfrequently oak or pinecovered with figured walnut veneers and contrast inlay such as satinwood or boxwood. Drawers were assembled using hand-cut dovetail joints and fitted with cast brass drop handles.

Authentic pieces feature hand-sawn tool marks, irregular dovetail jointing, natural timber shrinkage across the back panels, and authentic patination surrounding original brass keyhole escutcheons.

A walnut chest of drawers serves as a functional focal piece in an entryway, bedroom, or living room, offering contrast when positioned against contemporary wall shades or simple geometric decor.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish sparingly along the timber grain. Position the item away from direct heat sources and fluctuating humidity to prevent veneer lifting.
