Mark Seabrook Antiques has dated this piece to the Regency era.
... the top two and bottom two splats contain four turned buttons...it has a concave seat, which is supported underneath with strengthened tape to stop the seat from splitting....the regency style arms are nicely curved terminating with finely turned uprights.... the tapered legs are joined by plain box stretchers. It has gained a wonderful colour, that you would expect from elm and fruitwood and is in very good condition.
