Size: 5ft 3in x 4ft 10in (160 x 147cm).

Antique Persian Afshar rug of scarce 'dragon & phoenix' design on an ivory ground.

Circa 1890.

The rug belongs to a small group of Afshar rugs with the dragon & phoenix design, this example is very well drawn with excellent colour. The border is if a linked floral design.

The rug is in excellent condition with very slight even wear and just about full pile. The rug has excellent soft wool and a slightly firm weave similar to that found in Afshar Neriz rugs.

The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.

The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
