Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Karaja rugs originate from the village of Karadja in Northwest Iran, located near the Heriz weaving region. They are recognised for their distinct tribal geometric designs, typically featuring a central latch-hook medallion flanked by square or stepped motifs along a single field.

Traditionally hand-knotted by village weavers, these rugs feature a durable wool pile hand-tied onto a cotton warp and weft foundation. Natural vegetable dyes were historically used to produce deep terracotta reds, navies, and soft ivory tones.

Authentic Karaja rugs feature a characteristic linear arrangement of three distinct geometric medallions along the central field, including a center diamond flanked by square motifs. The weave exhibits a durable texture, and the underside shows clear hand-knotted knotting patterns.

A tribal rug adds visual texture and historical depth when placed over neutral hardwood or stone flooring. It functions effectively as an accent piece in an entryway, study, or beneath a coffee table, complementing both minimalist schemes and layered traditional interiors.

Vacuum regularly using a suction-only setting without a rotating beater bar to protect the wool fibres. Rotate the rug periodically to ensure even wear, and address spills immediately by blotting with a dry cloth and mild soapy water.
