Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A drum table is a round, circular table featuring a deep apron housing multiple drawers, supported by a central pedestal base with splayed legs. Popularised during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, these pieces were frequently used as writing desks or rent tables in libraries and private offices.

Authentic 19th-century drum tables were typically crafted from solid mahogany, rosewood, or walnut, featuring inset gold-tooled leather writing surfaces on top. Metalwork components, such as drawer pull handles and leg castors, were generally cast from solid brass.

Key identification markers include hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer lining, hand-turned pedestal columns, period-correct brass hardware showing natural oxidisation, and genuine wear patterns on the original leather insert and castor wheels.

An antique drum table functions well as a focal piece in a dedicated home office, a central study desk, or an entrance foyer table. Placing it in an open area allows the drawer construction and pedestal feet to be appreciated from all angles.

Clean timber surfaces using a dry microfibre cloth and nourish period mahogany with natural beeswax polish. Keep the leather surface conditioned with specialised leather cream, avoiding harsh chemicals, moisture, and direct sunlight to prevent drying or discolouration.
