Georgian tea tables were introduced during the 18th century as dedicated surfaces for hosting tea service in formal reception rooms. They feature a folding top that opens to double the surface area, allowing them to function as compact side tables when closed.

Most Georgian tea tables were constructed from solid mahogany or flame mahogany veneer, chosen for their rich tone and durability. Construction included traditional hand-cut joinery, turned legs, and brass hinges securing the foldover top.

Authentic Georgian tea tables feature hand-cut dovetail joints, original iron or brass butt hinges along the top leaf, and authentic age wear on the underside. Flame mahogany veneers on the apron and ring-turned leg profiles are also key indicators of the era.
