Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Decanter labels, historically known as bottle tickets, originated in the eighteenth century to identify the contents of opaque glass decanters and bottles. They became functional accessories on dining tables throughout the Georgian and Victorian eras.

Traditional decanter labels were constructed predominantly from sterling silver, Sheffield plate, or silver gilt. The lettering was typically hand-engraved, and the labels were suspended from silver chains designed to hang around bottle necks.

Authentic Georgian silver labels usually bear hallmarks indicating the maker, town mark, silver standard mark, and date letter, though smaller pieces were occasionally marked only with a maker mark or duty mark. Hand-engraved lettering and period-appropriate border styles, such as reeding or gadrooning, are key physical indicators.

Antique silver decanter labels can be displayed hanging around glass decanters on a bar cart or sideboard top. Alternatively, collectors often frame mounted collections of silver bottle tickets as wall art in dining spaces.

Clean silver decanter labels gently using a soft cloth and a specialised silver polish, taking care around intricate hand-engraving. Store items in anti-tarnish bags or felt-lined displays to protect the metal from oxidisation.
