A lovely oil painting of a woman feeding calves and chickens in an orchard by Claude Cardon. A woman can be seen setting a metal feeding pail down between two calves in the shade of an apple blossom tree. As the cows wait for the food, several hens and a cockerel also gather round. To the left, a hen with chicks watches on from the safety of a small chicken coop.
 
Claude Lorraine Clark known as Claude Cardon was born in 1864 to Samuel James Clark and his wife Maria Thornton. He was born into the Clark family of artists; his father, known as Samuel Joseph Clark (1841-1928), was a landscape and animal painter and his grandfather James Clark (1812-1884), was a well-known animal painter.
