We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Scottish Revival jewellery became prominent in the mid-to-late 19th century, popularised largely by Queen Victorias affection for the Scottish Highlands and Balmoral Castle. These pieces featured traditional Highland motifs, Celtic knotwork, and native Scottish semi-precious stones set into sterling silver.

Traditional Scottish pebble brooches were constructed using sterling silver or silver-gilt settings combined with native Scottish stones, including banded agates, jasper, bloodstone, cairngorm quartz, and amethyst, cut to fit bespoke geometric patterns.

Authentic 19th-century pieces typically feature hand-engraved scrollwork, precise stone fitting without visible modern adhesive, and period-correct fixings such as extended steel pin stems, C-clasps, and simple tube hinges.

Victorian agate brooches are versatile accessories that can be pinned to heavy coat lapels, wool scarves, blazer collars, or used to fasten lightweight shawls and cardigans in modern wardrobes.

Clean silver components gently with a dry, soft polishing cloth. Avoid immersing agate jewellery in liquid or using chemical dip cleaners and ultrasonic tanks, as moisture can compromise the delicate stone settings and foil backings.
