Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Pier console tables with integrated tall mirrors were developed during the 18th and 19th centuries to fit into the structural wall spacesor piersbetween large windows. Designed to reflect light across grand reception rooms and entrance halls, these pieces combined decorative woodwork with durable stone tops.

Authentic period examples typically feature hardwood frames constructed from mahogany, walnut, or satinwood, paired with imported marble tops such as Vert Antique or Carrara marble. The mirrors utilize silvered or mercury glass, often framed with detailed gilt metal or painted accents.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-cut joinery, hand-planed backboards, and natural oxidisation on the mirror glass. Look for genuine marble slab tops with hand-bevelled edges and subtle signs of natural surface wear consistent with age.

These tall, vertical structures are ideal for high-ceilinged entryways, corridors, or formal drawing rooms. Modern styling often pairs the dramatic vertical scale of the mirror with contemporary wall lights or minimal decorative urns placed on the marble surface.

Clean the marble surface using a soft cloth and pH-neutral stone cleaner to avoid etching. Dust the timber frame regularly and nourish with natural beeswax, avoiding silicone-based polishes. Mirror glass should be cleaned with a slightly damp microfiber cloth, keeping moisture away from the reverse backing.
