Designed specifically to sit atop a fireplace hearth surround during the nineteenth century, Victorian overmantel mirrors feature architectural arches, gilded frames, and decorative base side scrolls to reflect light and add visual height to reception rooms.

These mirrors were constructed using carved pine or lime wood cores coated in gesso plaster, detailed with moulded composition ornament, and finished with applied gold leaf gilding over a clay bole base.
