Art Nouveau cameo glass is characterised by multi-layered, coloured glass that is etched or carved to create raised designs, heavily influenced by natural forms such as flowers, foliage, and insects.

Blow-out or souffle cameo glass was created by blowing the hot glass vessel into a carved mould to produce high-relief shapes, after which acid etching or carving was applied to refine the outer coloured layers.

Authentic pieces typically feature multiple fused glass layers, sharp acid-etched or hand-carved relief details, period-appropriate signatures, and appropriate signs of wear on the base.
