S and S Timms Antiques Ltd has dated this Chippendale Mahogany Armchair to the 18th Century.

This chair dates to the Chippendale period of the 18th century and it can be narrowed down to this date based on the design of the back and square legs along with the quality of craftsmanship shown throughout and the rich mahogany timbers used for its construction.

Unlike many antique desk chairs it is of generous proportions, which in combination with the richness of the mahogany timber used and therefore the overall solidity of the chair, allows it to be used by just about anybody that so wishes. Certainly it is more than fit for original purpose.
The seat is covered with an old needlework tapestry cover.
There is a little wear to the needlework, with couple of very small spots which could be referred to as threadbare upon close inspection, but certainly there is nothing which is aesthetically displeasing in that respect. It would also be extremely easy and inexpensive, to have the seat reupholstered in any fabric of ones choosing of course due to the fact it is the drop in variety.

As with all items we offer for sale the chair has been inspected at our workshops by our highly skilled, traditionally trained, antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish, ensuring that it is ready to place immediately into the home or office, before being offered for sale.
