Victorian circular gilt mirrors feature round wooden frames decorated with moulded gesso ornamentation and coated in real gold leaf, popular throughout the nineteenth century.

These mirrors were constructed using a softwood frame base, coated in plaster-like gesso, layered with clay bole, wrapped in gold leaf, and fitted with reflective mirror glass.
