Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the late 18th and early 19th centuries during the Georgian and Regency periods, convex mirrors were designed with outward-curving glass to reflect light into darker corners of a room and allow servants to observe a dining space discreetly.

These mirrors were traditionally constructed using a timber core, often pine, coated with layers of gesso and bole paste before hand-applying thin sheets of gold leaf, while the mirror plate was made from hand-blown convex glass with early silvering techniques.

Authentic period pieces exhibit signs of age such as slight foxing or oxidisation spots on the original glass, reddish-clay bole showing through worn areas of the water-gilding, and hand-carved joinery or wooden backboards fixed with historic fasteners.

Place the mirror above a fireplace mantelpiece, hall console table, or within a gallery wall to serve as a focal point, reflect ambient light, and add historical contrast to modern decorative schemes.

Dust the frame gently using a soft, dry camel-hair brush or microfibre feather duster, avoiding water or liquid cleaners that can dissolve original gesso and remove delicate gold leaf.
